Terms of use

Last updated: 30 October 2026

This is a starting draft written from what the system actually does. The site owner should have it reviewed by a lawyer before going live.

These terms set out the rules for using Tulamtharn: the tank care tools, the community, chat, the second-hand market and the Tulamtharn shop. To sign up you must accept these terms together with the privacy policy.

This website is run by the Tulamtharn team.

  • You can sign up with an email address and a password, or with a Google account when the site offers that button. One email address can have one account.
  • One person, one account. Do not open another account to get around a posting pause or a suspension, do not use someone else's account, and do not pretend to be another person or a member of the team.
  • You must verify your email before you can post in the community, send chat messages, list items for sale or place an order. The tools for looking after your own tanks work straight after sign-up.
  • You look after your password and what is done through your account. If you think someone else has got in, change your password at once; other devices that were still signed in are signed out.
  • This service is not designed for children under 13, and sellers on the second-hand market must be 20 or older.

This applies to questions, answers, comments, diaries, articles, photos, chat messages, listings and the introduction on your profile.

  • Post only text and photos you have the right to publish. Your content stays yours; the site shows it according to the setting you chose, public or private.
  • Do not post spam or advertising, abusive language, insults, harassment, scams, other people's personal information, anything illegal, or things that have nothing to do with keeping aquatic animals.
  • Care advice in the community is each member's own opinion. If you see information wrong enough to kill fish, report it.
  • Uploaded photos have their EXIF data, including GPS location, removed automatically.
  • Questions, answers, diaries you open to other people and their entries, articles and listings must be approved by the team before anyone else can see them. Comments and chat messages appear at once.
  • When you edit an approved question, diary, diary entry or article, the edit needs approval again; until then other people keep seeing the earlier version. An edited listing waits for a new review before it returns to the market, except for an ordinary price cut.
  • If the team does not approve something, you are told by a notification on the site with the team's note, and you can edit and send it again.
  • Approval means the content was checked against the rules above. It does not mean the team confirms that the information in it is correct.
  • Members can report content, chat messages, listings or another member. The reported person is not told who reported them, and the reporter is not told the outcome.
  • When rules are broken the team may hide content, decline to approve it, pause your posting for a time, remove your selling permission, lock a reported private chat so it can only be read, or suspend the account, depending on how serious it is.
  • While your posting is paused you can still use the tools for your own tanks as usual.
  • A suspended account cannot sign in, and its questions and diaries are not shown on public pages.
  • What the team does to content and accounts is recorded in the system.
  • If you think the team got a decision wrong, ask for a review through the contact channel at the end of this page. Tell us the account's email and what you want reviewed.

This applies once the team opens the second-hand market. The full rules are on the market rules page.

  • Only members the team has given selling permission to, one by one, can list items. Sellers must be 20 or older and accept the market rules before their first listing. The team can remove the permission when rules are broken.
  • You may not list wild-caught fish or other aquatic animals, legally protected species, alien aquatic species the Department of Fisheries bans from breeding or trade, medicines, antibiotics and chemicals, or aquatic plants collected from the wild. Species the team has marked as not for sale cannot be listed.
  • Do not put phone numbers, LINE IDs, links or bank account numbers in a listing. Buyers contact sellers through chat on the site.
  • A sale is an agreement between the buyer and the seller. Tulamtharn is only the place where listings are posted: it does not buy or sell anything itself, never takes or holds money for anyone, and is not a party to any sale.
  • The team can hide listings and remove the selling permission of someone who cheats, but it cannot refund you on a seller's behalf, because the money never passes through the site. If you have lost money, report it to the police quickly.

Read the full market rules

This applies once the team opens the Tulamtharn shop, which is the site's own shop.

  • You pay by PromptPay QR transfer into the shop's bank account and attach the slip on the order page. An order counts as paid when the team has checked and confirmed the amount.
  • An order that is not paid within the time shown on its order page expires and is cancelled automatically.
  • Delivery, animals that die in transit and refunds follow the shop's policy shown on the product page and the order form.
  • You can ask about an order through the message box on your order page.

This applies once the team opens chat rooms or private chat.

  • Chat room messages can be seen by signed-in members and the team.
  • Only you and the person you are talking with can read a private chat. The team has no page for opening anyone's private chats. When a message is reported, the team sees only a copy of that message and up to 3 earlier ones, and may lock that chat so it can only be read.
  • You can block members you do not want to talk to. Blocked people are not told.
  • The team never asks for your password or bank account number and never asks you to transfer money in chat. If someone claiming to be the team asks for any of these, report them.
  • Tank care reminders, on the site and through ntfy, are a memory aid. The system tries to send them on time but does not guarantee that every message arrives, or arrives on time, because that depends on the internet, your phone and services run by other providers.
  • Looking after your animals remains your job. For tasks that must not be missed, such as medication, do not rely on reminders alone.
  • Reference values and guidance on the site, such as water parameter ranges or breeding steps, are general information, not a vet's diagnosis.
  • You can export your data and delete your account yourself under Settings → Account.
  • When you delete your account, notifications stop at once and the data is really erased after 30 days. Until that day you can ask the team to undo the deletion through the contact channel.
  • What we collect, how long we keep it and what remains after an account is deleted is explained in the privacy policy.

Read the privacy policy

  • The team may open, close or trial parts of the site from time to time, such as chat rooms, private chat, the second-hand market, the shop and the logbooks. When a part is closed, the data you already have in it stays.
  • The site may be unavailable for a short time during maintenance.
  • If we make a material change to these terms we will announce it in the app before it takes effect, and change the last-updated date at the top of this page.
  • The system records when you accepted at sign-up. The sign-up tick box has included these terms since the day this page went live; members who signed up before that accepted only the privacy policy at sign-up, and are shown a box asking them to acknowledge these terms once when they use the site — the time of that tap is recorded too.

If you have a question about these terms, want to report a problem, or want a decision by the team reviewed, use the contact channel below.
